One person is dead and two others in the hospital after a deadly shooting at a barber shop

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a shooting at a southwest Houston barber shop left multiple people injured and one person dead last night.

The shooting happened around 7:30pm at the Chop Shop in the 8500 block of Cook Road.

We don't yet know the circumstances around the shooting, but police said there was a large number of people both inside and outside the barber shop when the gunfire started.

Police say one person is dead but the number of fatalities could increase. Two others were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Detectives believe only one shooter was responsible. He has not been caught.

The shooting left others in shock.

"I'm glad that I didn't bring my son to get his hair cut today," said Jasmine Reed, a frequent customer of the barber shop. "I think it's sad that in a place of business like that, someone ends up shot. That's sad."

Police say everyone who was at the barber shop ran off, meaning the only two witnesses they have are the shooting victims. They are asking people who witnesses the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Remember, you can remain anonymous with your tip.
