FBCSO: Body of missing man believed to be found
Authorities say they believe they have discovered the body of Good Samaritan, Punet Nehra, who was apparently knocked off a bridge

RICHMOND, TX (KTRK) -- The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office believe they have found the body of a good Samaritan who stopped to help a driver on the side of the road and was apparently knocked off a bridge near New Territory last Sunday night.

A body found was found around 1pm in the Brazos River near Clute.

The search for Puneet Nehra, 43, of Sugar Land was extended downriver and dive team members of Equusearch recovered a body that is believed to be Nehra in the Brazos River near Clute along FM 2004 in Brazoria County.

Just after 9 pm on Sunday, May 3, a crash occurred on the Grand Parkway on the Jodie Stavinoha Bridge, which crosses the Brazos River near New Territory. Nehra and another good Samaritan were pushing a stranded vehicle when another vehicle smashed into the stranded vehicle.

It is believed the crash knocked Nehra into the river. The driver of that vehicle, Gregory Lee Kure, 30, of Needville, was arrested and charged with intoxicated assault. Authorities say he may face additional charges.

Positive identification is pending and will be determined by the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office.
