Toddler accidentally shoots 12-year-old in the hip

DONELSON, TN (KTRK) -- A 12-year-old boy is recovering after he was accidentally shot by his 2-year-old relative.

Tyson Lucas was rushed to the hospital Sunday morning after a toddler allegedly found a gun in the door pocket of his aunt's car.

Robert Dubose, a neighbor, says he heard the gunshot go off and then the sound of screaming.

"I mean, it sounded like 10 kids just screaming blood murder, I mean it scared me to death," Dubose says. "So I come running out the door, and when I got there, it was about 6 kids running around this one kid, sitting on the floor, holding his leg, and they were just screaming."

Police say the aunt did not break the law by having the gun inside the vehicle, but she did not have a permit to carry the gun.

No charges have been filed yet, but police are investigating.
