PHOTOS: Woman's death under investigation near downtown

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are investigating a death near downtown Houston, and the victim appears to be a young mother.

Police were called to the 1900 block of Runnels in Clayton Homes shortly after 9am. While they haven't yet confirmed details of the crime, witnesses in the area say a young woman was killed. She's said to be a single mother of five, and at least one child was reportedly screaming 'my mom is dead.'

Nearby, officers are searching along the McKee Street bridge, with crime scene tape around the area.
